To search for power within myself means I must be willing to move through being afraid to whatever lies beyond. If I look at my most vulnerable places and acknowledge the pain I have felt, I can remove the source of that pain from my enemies’ arsenals. My history cannot be used to feather my enemies’ arrows then, and that lessens their power over me. Nothing I accept about myself can be used against me to diminish me. I am who I am, doing what I came to do.
— Audre Lorde

Yvette is a bilingual therapist with a master’s in social work from New York University. With a background in community organizing and community mental health, they have extensive experience supporting individuals navigating the layered impacts of trauma—particularly the wounds created and sustained by systems of power. Yvette believes that individual and collective healing are inherently intertwined and sees therapy as one small part of a much broader movement toward liberation.

If you’re looking for therapy that directly addresses the realities of surviving late-stage capitalism, Yvette offers a refreshing, transformative approach. They work with historically excluded individuals navigating trauma in the context of systemic oppression—including racial trauma, poverty trauma, immigration stress, and the criminalization of survival. Yvette empowers clients to process difficult emotions, explore intersecting identities, and cultivate meaningful, connected relationships—all through a lens that acknowledges how systems like racism, classism, ableism, homophobia, transphobia, and xenophobia shape our mental health.

Yvette’s approach is collaborative and integrative, grounded in a blend of lived experience, radical feminism, and abolitionist perspectives. They bring openness, humor, and compassion into the therapy space, supporting clients in examining interlocking systems of oppression while centering empowerment, resilience, and resistance. Deeply rooted in Liberation Psychology, Yvette emphasizes the transformative power of relationships and integrates evidence-based methods such as Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT). They create a compassionate space where clients can process pain, reconnect with inner wisdom, and reclaim their narratives—finding ways to heal and thrive beyond the harm inflicted by oppressive systems.

As a queer nonbinary person of the Mexican diaspora, Yvette is especially attuned to both the emotional toll and the profound joy of carrying multiple systemically targeted identities. They offer a space where all parts of you are held—the pain of being misunderstood, the rage that demands justice, the joy of chosen family, and the quiet power of your ancestral brilliance. They invite you to bring your whole self into sessions, fostering a relationship grounded in authenticity and trust. Together, you’ll co-create a warm, courageous space that celebrates all aspects of your identity and honors the strength and wisdom within.

Outside of sessions, Yvette can be found soaking up the sun, spending time with loved ones—including their beloved cat—and taking long walks to recharge and reconnect.
