Octavia is a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC) in Minnesota and is working toward her LCPC (Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor) in Illinois, where she currently offers therapy services. She earned her master’s degree in Counseling and Psychological Services from Saint Mary’s University of Minnesota. Octavia’s approach is affirming, collaborative, and person-centered. In addition to supporting individual healing, she is committed to advocating for clients as they navigate the systems that impact their well-being.
As a Black cisgender neurodivergent woman living with chronic migraine (an invisible disability), Octavia understands the courage it takes to reach out for support and the importance of being fully seen and validated for your very real experiences. She recognizes how exhausting it can be to carry the weight of always needing to keep it together and be "on". She strives to create a safe, affirming space, where people can unmask, slow down, and rest without judgement.
Octavia works with children, adolescents, and young adults navigating challenges related to ADHD, autism, sexuality, gender identity, trauma, depression, culture, self-esteem, anxiety, and relationships. She is especially passionate about uplifting the voices of BIPOC, LGBTQIA+, and neurodivergent individuals, meeting each person where they are and supporting them as they grow into the fullest versions of themselves.
Grounded in trauma-informed, anti-oppressive, and affirming care, Octavia creates a space where you can feel seen, heard, and supported. She encourages agency throughout the therapeutic process and empowers you to take the lead in your healing in whatever way feels best for you. Octavia draws from CBT, ACT, strengths-based and person-centered approaches in her work, and incorporates somatic techniques to help build awareness and deepen connection with the body. She is also currently completing additional training in ADHD and trauma-informed yoga. She encourages clients to use their voice as a tool to reclaim their power, while honoring the real-world systems they are navigating each day.
Outside of session, you can find Octavia browsing a plant shop for a new plant baby, attempting a new craft, spending time with friends and family, walking, reading, listening to podcasts or binging her latest Netflix show.
