Justin is a pre-licensed clinician who earned his master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from the University of North Florida. He approaches therapy holistically and believes that understanding a person also means understanding the relationships, identities, communities, and systems that shape their experiences. With a background in nonprofit work supporting and advocating for LGBTQIA+ youth and young adults, Justin’s work is guided by a client-centered perspective that values each person’s agency.

Justin’s experience as a queer, first-generation Chinese American man has been a catalyst for his growth and has shaped his commitment to working with oppressed communities. His advocacy work with LGBTQIA+ youth has deepened his passion for supporting queer clients and creating spaces where people can explore identity, relationships, and their experiences without judgment. He recognizes that mental health does not exist separately from the social and systemic conditions people navigate and strives to approach therapy with curiosity about each client’s individual and cultural context.

Justin is especially passionate about working with LGBTQIA+ adolescents and young adults navigating identity, relationships, life transitions, and emotional challenges. He is interested in helping clients better understand their emotions and the different parts of themselves that can emerge in response to their experiences. His clinical interests include Internal Family Systems and Emotion-Focused Therapy, particularly as ways of exploring how emotions, relationships, and past experiences influence how people understand and relate to themselves.

Justin values therapy that is holistic, affirming, collaborative, and grounded in advocacy. He draws from Internal Family Systems and Emotionally-Focused Therapy (EFT) while adapting his approach to each person’s individual needs and experiences. Rather than approaching therapy with a predetermined idea of where someone should end up, Justin aims to create space for clients to explore what matters to them, deepen their understanding of themselves, and move toward ways of living that feel more connected and aligned with who they are.

In Justin’s free time, he enjoys partaking in activities that nourish his body and mind. If he is not in his therapy space, you will most likely find him walking to the nearest cafe or frequenting his local farmers market. After a long day, Justin decompresses by meditating, playing his newest video game obsession, going on runs, journaling, or taking care of his “plant babies”.
